Changes to Blogger that I couldn’t navigate through, and too little enthusiasm to keep trying until I figured it out, sparked my lingering absence. Negotiating life during a pandemic has been a major challenge, we can all agree. But the political atmosphere in our United States has disheartened me beyond repair.I am KaHollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02528677007819875856noreply@blogger.com29tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4984398639775623131.post-46454999770115014192020-07-16T19:04:00.001-03:002020-07-16T19:04:31.017-03:00My Little Corner of the World
I've become a real news hound during this pandemic,
simply because I feel the need to know what's going on.
Things aren't pretty.
It doesn't really matter what political party you align with,
the facts are the facts.
It's time to stop laying blame for all the things that were done wrong,
and time for everyone to get on the same page,
and to start doing everything right.
This morningKaHollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02528677007819875856noreply@blogger.com38tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4984398639775623131.post-59034084975594493362020-06-03T20:05:00.003-03:002020-06-03T20:12:42.901-03:00One Day at a Time!
With everything that's going on in the US,
it's difficult to know how to begin a new post.
I am so thankful that I have the quilting bug
and not the corona virus,
and I can lose myself in my sewing.
I was still in a slump
during the initial stages of the pandemic,
so I whipped up this simple little top
using a 5-piece fat quarter bundle by Kanvas Studio
called Cherry Twist, KaHollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02528677007819875856noreply@blogger.com24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4984398639775623131.post-68632278558631705142020-05-24T14:18:00.002-03:002020-05-25T12:08:07.082-03:00Blog Hop Update/What's New
Greetings!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog during the

It took me a long time to respond to everyone's comments,
and there are still a few that have been buried in my emails,
so I apologize If you have not heard from me.
Yet.
After all the comments were tallied, my 'behind the scenes' assignment

Last winter, I made and presented my first QOV.
There are no words to describe
how it made me feel when it was presented.
I vowed then and there that I would make one a year
for as long as I am able.
Completing this top was my January OMG.
I didn’t accomplish my goal,
but it was completed on February 1st,
which just happened to be the QOV Sew-in date.

It's time to confess!
I did NOT accomplish my One Monthly Goal!
But, that’s okay.
I have made a lot of progress, and my purpose,
to have it ready by the time I travel to North Texas,
can still be accomplished,
since I’m not going until mid-March.
Why DIDN'T I accomplish my goal?
Wellllllll,
I kind of got sidetracked
by sneaking small projects into my sewing time.

This is a test.
I was gifted a new iPad for Christmas!
My old one was a mini, and I couldn’t post with it,
so let’s see if I can, now!
Hmmm, pretty good!
I prefer to use my camera and laptop
for a more refined look,
but now I know I can do a post in a pinch
from my iPad!
Now, let’s give this test more purpose!

Most quilters are compassionate, empathetic, giving people who work hard to create beauty, warmth, and security for others. Like so many of us,
I am trying to use up the fabrics I have.
When I saw the J/F 2019 issue of Quilty magazine
while going through the checkout at the grocery store,
I was enamored with the cover photo.
I had a basket full of assorted strings
and I love sewing these curved blocks,
so, of course, this issue had to follow me home.

My scrappy heart did a happy dance when it saw this timely post by Blossom Heart Quilts. I jumped right up, left my morning cup of coffee half full, and got right to work.
Why was I so excited? Well, 2 seasons ago, I precut a baggie full of scraps into 3.5” x 6.5” rectangles to bring back to Cape Breton for a specific quilt, but once I put KaHollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02528677007819875856noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4984398639775623131.post-58878238203955953122019-08-13T16:19:00.001-03:002019-08-13T16:20:35.053-03:00A Softer Palette
A softer palette,
which is a little out of the box for me.
I saw this pretty little quilt, designed by Erika Bea,
in the February 2018 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting,
and thought it would work well with the plethora
of blue fabrics I inherited a few years back.
So, I picked up some very pale yellow background fabric,
which doesn't show well in the pictures,

With summertime activities underway,
it took a little finesse to complete Julie's QAL,
but I did it!
I completed not one, but two Disappearing 9-Patch flimsies!

I found some old leader/ender 6" square nine patches.
I couldn't resist making a quilt for
