As I say good-bye to my hummers

They travel just so far, then they need to stop, rest, and refuel.
So this is just a reminder that if you think your hummingbirds have moved on,
keep your feeders up,
so mine will have a place to recharge their energies!

love your hummingbird photos. I guess my yard is a stop over for them as I have had them busy for over a week, more than I had seen all summer.
ReplyDeleteMy sister lives across the street from me and she has lots of hummingbirds hanging around. I have none, even though I hang my sweet nectar for them. Love the pics you've shared!

ReplyDeleteHummingbirds. I always find it a treasure when I see one. We saw quite a few last year on our vacation in San Diego and every time I saw one, I got all excited.

ReplyDeleteIt is always a little sad to see them leave but I also leave that feeder up incase some need to refuel .
ReplyDeleteOur orioles have left the feeders for the year, but the hummers are still numerous here. We go through about 12 cups of nectar a day here at the moment. In the winter we will go down to about 3 cups/week with the hummers that do not migrate.

ReplyDeleteI so enjoy the information that you pass on to us. Now in addition to locating Milkweed for the butterflies I need to make sure the hummingbirds have food. I have never been much of a bird watcher but after seeing your posts I am becoming one.

One of the pleasures of my summer visit to my sister in CB is watching her humming birds. She has feeders on her windows and you can sit with a cuppa and watch for hours their beauty as they fly about. It is amazing to see how much food they consume on a busy day. I think that if I worked a tiny bit as industrious as they do I would have no UFOs. Thank you for lovely pictures.

ReplyDeleteWe don't have any Hummerbirds, sob sob, I would like to see one. But they are migrational. But, you have a sensational way of keeping them all the year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! We were just talking about missing our hummers and how we wish that they could tell us good-bye. I love seeing them each summer and usually we have one or two that hang around just a bit longer. Neat designs!
