Oh, my goodness, another month has slipped by in the blink of an eye. The speed with which time passes really disturbs me.
Thought I'd climb out from underneath my rock and get a quick post up before September was over.Nothing like last minute!
I finally finished working with that bag of scraps my friend dropped off during the summer. It’s difficult to juggle taking advantage of being outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather, with accomplishing much in the sewing room, but 10 minutes here and 15 minutes there eventually adds up. My leaders-enders became the leaders-enders to my leaders-enders in order to finish up this personal challenge so I could move on. I was able to piece two quilts and 2 pillow tops out of it. Here's the second quilt flimsy, just completed today.

I don’t make the time to go out on 'photo shoots', even though I spend my summers in an amazing location, so I was very excited when, during a visit with The Scrapmaster, she agreed to indulge me. I had her bag up one of her quilts, and off we went to Point Pleasant Park on the Halifax waterfront. This is one of my favorite quilts of hers, which I personally think is pattern worthy. Although the sun was blazing, I managed to get a few good pictures before the heat of the day drove us away. You can read more about this quilt here.

ReplyDeleteLeaders-Enders to your leaders-enders. Good thing I’m not drinking tea or I would have sprayed it all over. Ha! Your arrow quilt looks beautiful hanging outside. Taking quilts on location is a challenge, I think, but your photo is stunning with that vivid blue sky.

ReplyDeleteI have to agree, it's a lovely arrow quilt Karen, and all made from scraps too, didn't you do well. I popped over to see Linda's quilt, so lovely, and the bird quilt she made is very cute, there seems a lot of detail in those birds, love the backing, enjoy.

ReplyDeleteBeating yourself up isn't allowed, my dear. Quilting is about feeling good; not guilty. Summer is meant to be relaxing, and spent outdoors. I'm glad you made it outside as you did! Goodness, but you've accomplished a lot! All the pieces in that flimsy! Wow! You've been sewing heaps by my estimation. Sure love seeing how you work with scraps. I haven't yet met a scrap quilt I didn't like... and now you make me want to dig into my scrap bins, which have somehow become overly full again. Next I hope to play with only solids scraps. Have you ever pieced with solids only?

ReplyDeleteI know how happy you are to finish working with your gifted scraps. What an amazing quilt you made from them. Kudos for sticking to it. Our quilt photo shoot was fun while it lasted. Too bad I wilted with the heat and had to call it quits. Next time I will wear a hat!

Beautiful quilts and a fab day for a photoshoot. Love the red barn in the background. Enjoying the outdoors and living under a rock - you are the only one in my knowledge who can accomplish such diverse feats simultaneously. But what about the leaders and enders :-)
