Long Overdue

I’m loathe to admit I’ll not be blogging anytime soon.  Changes to Blogger that I couldn’t navigate through, and too little enthusiasm to keep trying until I figured it out, sparked my lingering absence.  Negotiating life during a pandemic has been a major challenge, we can all agree.  But the political atmosphere in our United States has disheartened me beyond repair.

I am not depressed, I am still sewing, and I will continue to randomly visit blogs and leave comments.  Maybe one day, I’ll wake up and declare, “Today’s the day to start taking pictures again and revisit my blog!”

I have made many friends over the last 12+ years through blogging and I covet each of those friendships.  Thank you for your support, encouragement, and motivation throughout those years.  It was a lifeline in more ways than one.

Stay healthy and safe!

  6. Howdy stranger...so good to see you update. Glad you're not letting this pandemic get to you if the border opens will you be heading north? I know you are never without a good project to keep you invested in the future. Happy March.

  8. It can be freeing to not have to report on a blog--just joyfully quilting away, Karen. I hope you have that joy.

  9. I am so sorry you have not been able to get back to your house in Nova Scotia that must be trying for you. I will love to keep hearing from you and hope all is well.

  10. Oh golly! It's so good to hear from you! I miss our exchanges on one another's blogs. Though I completely understand your lack of desire to participate in social media. Through no fault of their own, many people have responded similarly. This past year of change and unrest has change our innermost perspectives and emotions. I agree about political expressions being overwhelming. While I believe that it's every person's right to express themselves through their social platforms, I'd beg each person to consider that whatever they say will not sway another person to their point of view. In fact their words cause more harm than good. So, we continue to muddle through all this - overlooking when possible - as best we can. Take care of yourself. Stay well. I hope you get your vaccinations so you can resume some semblance of normalcy, albeit while continuing to wear a mask. Hugs.

  12. I understand, Karen. I couldn't bring myself to blog for over two months, and I think it was the exhaustion from politics that did me in. Which is weird, because quilting seems so separate from that? I'm so glad to hear you are still sewing, because that is so important to our psyches. The online community will still be here, whether you participate by blogging or commenting. Stay safe and well!

  15. It’s so very nice to hear from you. I really was looking forward to seeing Linda last year but it was not to be. One day soon, I hope, I will travel home to Nova Scotia and hope to meet up with you and Linda. Be safe and take care.

  16. It’s good to hear from you, Karen, and know that you are okay—well, as okay as anyone can be right now. I do miss your blog, but I understand why you aren’t blogging. I do have to say you have been on my mind for the past few weeks. I‘m making a quilt using a pattern from your friend Karen in NS that I won through your giveaway in the Paula B memorial Blog Hop last year. Take care, stay safe, and I hope it won’t be long before you can go to NS again.

  17. I completely understand where you are coming from. Blogger’s constant changes are so taxing each time one wants to do a quick post. It’s discouraging. I also know that politics has played a big role in my emotions during this Covid year. It’s a shame that it interferes with our joy of quilting and creativity. I hope you won’t be away too long as I will miss your posts. It appears lots of people will also miss them. Enjoy what you are doing away from blogging!

  18. How my heart leaped with joy to see a post from you. I understand your feelings, and I hope that the day comes when you do want to take pictures and find a way to share again. Maybe another platform would be easier, and when the pandemic has dwindled down you'll feel like trying one. Either way, I look forward to your comments, and to staying in touch that way if not through your blog. Be well, be happy, and sew on!

  19. Hello Sweet Karen. I am so happy to see your post. I quit blogger for the very same reason...changes I could not navigate and haven’t the time or inclination to figure it all out. I merely view FB and IG from time to time to see what is happening with talented people. I am so over the news and the pandemic promises and all the doom and gloom. I much prefer to see Creative Bliss. I have thought about you many times and am so glad to know you are real like the rest of us. Blessings and Please know you are not alone and you are loved. <3

  20. I understand completely. Karen. I will miss your blog and hope that things will change and you will return one day. You have been a fantastic inspiration for me. A few years ago you crocheted a colourful afghan. I was inspired to make one of my own and use it daily for warmth and comfort. I think of you whenever I look at it. In these chaotic times I wish you peace. Stay safe and quilt on.

  23. Hi Karen! Fully understand how you feel. I had a very long break from blogging myself recently but it was nice once I started again to hear from other bloggers I had lost touch with. Hopefully, when you are ready, you will find the same. Hugs Christine xx

  27. I'm late to the comments but I echo the others -- glad to know you are okay and sorry you're on hiatus from blogging. I so enjoyed seeing you at QuiltCon. Who'd have thought we'd be homebound (relatively speaking) for so long?!

  28. I just saw your new finish - all the lovely houses in the neighborhood (on IG) and I came here (running) to read about it. It is ok to be not ok. Take all the time you need. I will be right here when you return. We will get through this together. Lots of Love & Big Squishy Hugs.
