Stark Naked Beauty

Photos compliments of The Ranger

This area, a low wetland, was flooded by a beaver's dam,
therefore, over time, killing all the trees.

  1. Is this mist rising off a burn area? Very surreal - I love the non-color of the shots!

  5. These are very beautiful shots. There is something very mysterious about them. I emailed you an answer about the cloud chamber and also put the same info in a comment under yours on my blog. Thanks for visiting.

  7. I thought maybe it was a forest fire - looks almost the same. We have some beavers that have taken up residence in our pond. We really need to get rid of them, they are stealing our little trees. I'm sure the trees are tasty - but we would like to keep them.

  8. Those critters can really change the landscape. Before I saw the caption, I thought it was an area that had recently burned with smoke still rising in the air. Here in the States beavers seldom get to have their way anymore. Farmers, ranchers, and foresters either want to keep the status quo or have their own designs on the land. Sometimes I wonder if human engineering or interference is the best option? Thanks for this provocative post.

  11. I always love photos taken through trees and this one is beautiful! The sun's glow over the burnt-like trees gives us a feeling that the forest is just waking up to a gorgeous weather day! Cheers , Linda

  13. Wow...such a mysterious feeling to this lovely capture.....I Love Them Both!!!!!! You've caught the images in such softness and perfect lighting, do you mind if I ask what settings you were on????? I find it a challenge with mist and a backlit situation....

    Thanks In Advance....Susan

  14. Thank you all for visiting! This scene is the result of a beaver's dam.

Susan, The Ranger informs me that on this day, he used a point and shoot camera! Nothing special. Isn't it remarkable?
