A Few Finishes

June is over all ready?
I do have a few finishes.
I just kind of poke along at my own pace.

First up,

"Keeping Perspective"

My first (and maybe only) foray into modern quilting.
Inspired by a quilty blogging friend of many years,
who embraced modern quilting, and
despite reoccurring medical issues over the last two years,
she never appeared to skip a beat, never stopped smiling,
and continued sharing her knowledge and skills.
Her word of the year?
Perspective.

"Keeping Perspective" was custom quilted by
Natalia Bonner of PieceNQuilt.
Pop over to see!
Her pics are so much nicer!

Another finish was my Posie Quilt,

gifted to a friend who was just diagnosed with breast cancer.
It was delivered yesterday and she was just delighted.

Here's how I quilted it.

And here's the sweet label,
I just took the flowers out of the middle of the pattern.

Last, but not least, I made a wallhanging for my nephew.

It measures 24x32.
He just got his first apartment and had a birthday, too!

June was a rainy, cold month.
Believe it or not, I'm still having warming fires in the mornings!
Here's hoping summer finds us soon!

XO,
karen

I know, I can't believe June is over! Tomorrow is the last day, and my oldest son's birthday. He keeps getting older while I stay the same age....ahem.

LOVE your modern quilt, very interesting! I really love your Posie quilt, it has a very retro vibe to it. What a good friend you are. Your wallhanging for your nephew is perfect - very manly - Happy Birthday to him and congrats on his new apartment!

Such a great variety of quilty projects Karen! Modern - retro - guy quilt :) I have several friends who have found quilting helps to take their minds off their physical problems and keeps them sane through it all. Love your label with the sweet flowers - praying your friend overcomes her diagnosis and lives many wonderful years!!!!

Such beautiful quilts and so different from each other, each one being very special, with a story behind/before them.
Great way of spending a rainy month!
Happy July weather for you!

Cold and rainy here too interspersed with a warm day every now and then. You are so productive on so many big projects. The recipients must appreciate them. I really like the one you gifted for your breast cancer friend. I hope that she cuddles in it!

Happy Canada Day! What beautiful finishes you have, my dear! I really like the Posies quilt and the quilting motif you used. That modern quilt Keeping Perspective is absolutely stunning! Your Nephew is sure to appreciate the handsome wall hanging you quilted for him.

I actually made a pansy quilt just like yours...well the squares. I would work on them while at Dr. appointments for a friend or the kids. I finally gave the squares to my mother and she made a cute quilt...not quilted yet. I am sure your friend loves it so much....

Keeping Perspective is awesome! Is it a pattern? or did you design it?

KaHolly I'm not a big fan of modern quilts but I love, love, love this one! I do love the bright colors of modern quilts and they make me smile....perhaps they'll convert me from my traditional ways before it's over! blessings, marlene

All of your quilts are amazing. I'm impressed with your modern quilt -- I find it hard to create modern looking quilts after working with traditional patterns for so many years.

Great to see a full shot of your "Keeping Perspective". Great name BTW. I hope to see more original modern from you. Love the swirly flower quilting on your Posie. You seem to have mastered that design. I still haven't tried it, but I will. Love your nephews quilt too. Boy, you have been busy. So glad the weather is warming up the past few days. I thought the cool days would never end.

I can't believe I missed this post! I ADORE your modern quilt! It's really wonderful, and the quilting is just perfect with it, especially the single column of feathers. The whole thing is a home run! Are you keeping it for yourself? It looks like a QuiltCon entry to me.

I do like those June finishes. I went to Natalia's site and looked at her close-ups of the quilting. She did do a wonderful job!
