Keeping a Nature Journal

Keeping a Nature Journal
Discover a Whole New Way of
Seeing the World Around You
by Clare Walker Leslie
& Charles E. Roth

I picked up this book as incentive to start
to draw in my journal(s).
My sister, The Fern Lady, was born with
the creative genes in the family.
She can draw,
she can play almost any musical instrument
                            she puts her hands on,
she can cook,
and as if that isn't enough,
                                 she's smart.

Me?  I need lots of instruction!

I am delighted with my purchase.  If you would like
to encourage someone to
pay a little closer attention to nature,
this book would make a great gift!

I really wanted to do a post about this book
because I wanted to share this picture!

It's classic!

I understand what you are saying about your sister. My mother, grandfather, daughter have the wonderful ability to draw, cook without a recipe, play musical instruments. Somehow this all passed me by. I think it is wonderful you want to do this and found such a great book. Have fun! Nola

I use my camera, yet I should log and order things a little better. A haphazard collection it is.
Great idea.

Hi there - I think the pose with the book between the legs is a classic of "zij" - where you can ID something just by the way it stands etc! I also wonder how many birders have a shiny strip on their favourite birding coat where the ends of their binoculars rest! I classic give away!

I have a nature journal that I started when I homeschooled the kids. Haven't done much in lately. I took it on my trip to CA but never pulled it out. So busy taking photos.

Did you draw it? I use to stand like that but now I leave my bird guide in the cars and just looks, observe, takes notes and photos, then look the birds up later! I hope you are well. I have not forgotten about you, just been very busy this summer!

No, Kathie! I only wish I could draw this well!! The picture is from the book. I'm glad you are having a busy summer. By your posts, I see you've gotten some traveling/visiting in!! Good for you! ~karen

I sometimes like to be in the nature, but only when I'm coming to a campsite where I could just park my car on a campsite instead of just backpacking to the campsite away from the parking lots.
