Slippery Slope

I don't know if I have the appropriate words
to describe this latest hiking adventure.

But after a long and arduous climb down
a forested, muddy, slippery trail,
this is what I heard and saw.
(Keep in mind, I'm NO videographer!!)

There were a few moments during the climb down
that I was outright scared
and didn't think I could continue.
However, with The Ranger encouraging me
every step of the way,
"Spread yourself out like a spider.",
was I EVER rewarded for my bravery.

Photo compliments of The Ranger

It was virtually a tropical rain forest,
right here in the middle of Cape Breton,

lush, green carpets of moss,

the foliage dripping from the moisture...
...warm, dark, humid, musty...
You know,
if Robin Hood stepped out from behind a large fern,

it wouldn't have surprised me in the least!

Only three quarters of a mile from the beginning of the trail,
it took 1.5 hours to hike back to the truck,
the climb up being much faster than the climb down.

Looking at the pictures,
I can't believe I was really there!

"Wow" nature at it's best, and you was able to get to experience it, and have amazing photo's for you to remember the ordeal even if you was scared out of your wit's!!
To bad Robin Hood wasn't around to give you a hand, ; ) but the Park Ranger seemed to be very accommodating!!
Lush green forest and rushing roaring water sounds good right now since it is extremely hot and humid here "yuck"

Just awesome, so beautiful and well worth that hike.... it's funny how going down can be harder than going upwards.... I think men in tights would have been rather fun!!

Oh my, this is just beautiful. The pictures are amazing. I would never have thought to see something like this in your part of the world. You are so lucky the ranger would take you along and share this beautiful area. I'm glad you stuck with it and that you would share pictures with us. Love the picture of you sitting on the moss covered rock.
Thanks for sharing your part of the world with all us. Nola

Hello Miss Spider! What a breathtaking view you provided us with. I think Robin Hood was hiding in the ferns...amazing photography and amazing waterfall...apparently not far from where I live. Gotta love Cape Breton!
