A Good Day

It's difficult to believe that after such a perfect autumn day
and a starry, starry night,
I could wake to such a storm!
The winds are gusting out of the south from across the water.
This house was built in the mid-1800's
and has withstood many a storm over the years.
I know it's not going anyplace,
but when it shudders,
so do I!!

It's a good day to play with scraps!

My obsession with Dresden Plates began when I purchased
Loft Creations' Lady Fingers and Sugarbaby Bag pattern.

I've been addicted ever since!!

It will also be a good day to layer and finish this:

Gail Pan Designs had a BOM in 2009
and I've finally finished all the blocks.
I think this is where I confess to taking a little spill
and doing nasties to my ankle.
Nothing like a little down time to work on stitcheries!!

I couldn't wait to sew them all together!

See?  I do, eventually, finish things!
It only took me 4 years!
But, it's not quite finished, yet.

Thank goodness for such talented ladies like Stephanie and Gail!
Their creative abilities make me shine.

It's also a good day to have a birthday!
Happy Birthday to Linda at Scrapmaster,
one of my Nova Scotia quilting blogger buddies,
(try to say that 3 times fast!).
If you have a second, stop by her blog and
help make her birthday that much more special!!

Have a great day full of quilty goodness!

Stay safe and don't let that big bad wind blow you (or your scraps) away! How nice to see Gail's stitcheries again! I did those and they were so much fun to stitch. Yours look great! :0)

The blocks are so sweet with their positive messages. Hopefully you will have this finished for the holiday season this year. Beautiful things can take years to complete. :)

It must be spooky hearing the old house creaking on Halloween!

Beautiful island indeed. As to the craft I'd have to consult my mom who is a quilter....:)

I love your stitchery quilt - that will be so nice to have, just in time for this season. :D Sorry about your ankle; that's never any fun, and I hope it heals nicely. I'm going to head over to leave a Happy Birthday for your friend!

Yes, sounds like a good day to be inside, making indoor sunshine.

we had pretty high winds the last couple of days here, too, with the storm system passing and going northeast. my house is not nearly as sturdy as yours, i'm sure. :)

You've been busy with the bags and the stitchery from Gail Pan. I love the sashing you've used. I read your last post too, what lovely photos. Windy stormy weather, just a different kind of beauty. I always look forward to a good miserable day where I can stay inside.

Having spent more then a few days in that part of the world, I know how the shudders feel. Enjoy your handiwork, stay warm.

I have just caught up on your last few posts and love them all. Your photos of your surroundings and your creations are so beautiful :-) The dresden is gorgeous and the Gail Pan quilt is also very lovely. I saved these but did not stitch them up.

Be healed! It's hard not to love all things dresden. :o) Thanks for the love. I spy my book on your side bar as well. Your stitches are so pretty. I'm sure it's comforting to have hand work while doing a little couch potato-ing.

Every once in a while I look forward to a stormy day so I can stay home and work on photographs, blogs, etc.

I am in awe of your talent! I can see a lot of time, effort and love goes into your outstanding work. Truly fabulous!

Sorry to hear you hurt your ankle but the good news is that you can work on some quilts. I made the same embroidery quilt and gave it to my mom when I finished it. Mr. P. and I have been raking leaves all day and we noticed the winds picking up here. Must be coming from up your way.
Take care!
