October is a very busy time of year for me.
This is when I try to do too many things at once
because not only is the nice weather waning,
but it's time for me to finish up everything started,
button down the hatches outside for winter,
which includes
I have to prepare my hand work for travel, too.
This year I decided to do a simple applique project.
I found 9 scrappy nine patches
left-over from a past leader/ender quilt
and decided to make the Honey Bee Block at long last,
so I'm prepping them for my 'to go' bag.
Of course, I had to finish at least one!
It goes without saying
that I have to sneak time in to practice my FMQ!
Last, but not least,
September was my birth month.

One last hike on a barren beach. |
These errant Semi-palmated Plovers our only companions. |
but it's time for me to finish up everything started,
My 'airfare quilt'. Every year I make and sell one to pay for my airfare to Texas. |
Baby Fynn's Daycare Quilt, 24"x24" |
button down the hatches outside for winter,
which includes
helping The Ranger finish splitting
and laying in his winter wood supply,
and tromping through the meadow
to clean out all of the Tree Swallow houses
without squashing the cranberries.

I have to pack up all of my sewing 'mess'
for the winter.
I'm going to miss my Janome!!

I am now officially

I'm still not to sure how I feel about that,

Belated Birthday Wishes Karen! I can see where the weather changes so dramatically you really do have to do a lot of preparation for winter... we kind of just slip gradually into it! I hope your airfare quilt does so well that you can travel business class :-) It is lovely and I also love the cute daycare quilt. Good luck with getting everything done and enjoying the last days of autumn.

Lots going on to get ready to go. I love your chevron quilt and congrats on finishing up your hexie quilt. I have always wanted to make a honeybee quilt.
Sounds like you are going to be well prepared for every sewing opportunity! Love those honeybee blocks :) And Happy Birthday!!! I'll be joining you in that generation next year :)
Happy super belated birthday! I love that you call the quilt your airfare quilt. That is completely brilliant! Maybe I need to start doing that!
Great projects finished and in progress.
Oh, that is a lot of wood! We have a good stack ready for winter if we need it.
You are getting a lot done. I so love your nature pictures....and your projects.
Leave the Quilting until Winter, you need to get out there Karen.{:))
Happy Belated Birthday!!!! The quilts, the scenery, oh such a pretty post - and I LOVE your Reach For The Stars quilt, I can't believe I've been missing your posts. I'm not sure how you fell off my reader....I miss my old google reader. I'm catching up now though!
Wow! What a lot you have going on. Love those honeybee blocks. Such a great combination of piecing and applique.
Oh my goodness girl you've been so busy. I love the Chevron quilt and would be curious as to where and how you sell it. I'm trying to save money to go to Market next year -- maybe that is how I can get there ;) Your FMQ looks like it's coming around wonderfully. I'm not sure I could go without my machine like you do but I would probably finish up a bunch of applique by storing it and the computer away.
