Really? A Finish?

I have so few finishes,
I'm excited to be able to share one!

This was actually a July finish,
but the weather prohibited me from taking photos out of doors.

This was a kit, but my daughter added the aqua to the mix.
Good choice!  I love going fabric shopping with her.
I straight line quilted it according to the direction of the rectangles.

Let's talk labels.  I think there are still some of you out there
that don't take the time to label your quilts.
After all the hard work,
no matter how simple and easy the pattern is to sew,
like this one,
it still deserves a nice label.

It doesn't have to be a major work of art
to compliment your quilt back
and document your efforts.
This one is simple, basic, and took about 15 minutes to throw together,
another 15 to stitch to the back.
I also stitch in the ditch around the borders on the inside
so it lays down nicely, providing a nice, finished look.

Do you get that nice, soft velvety feel to the backing from this picture?
I backed it with corduroy...on sale, 3 metres for $9.99!
How could I resist that price?
I love it.  I'm going to use corduroy more.
I'm so glad I have Stephanie's book,

which happens to be on sale at Connecting Threads right now!
I'm glad I bought 3 metres of raspberry corduroy, too.

Yesterday, this quilt was delivered to a friend
who lost his wife to cancer one year ago this week.
It's been a tough week for him.
I hope it helps to bring him comfort and peace.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit today.
Look who else stopped by to say hello!

Life is good!

I'm trying again to do a few comments. It's down to about once a week. (went to eye dr. again on Aug. 3). I LOVE your quilt and the colors you chose. Very beautiful. Great shot of the Heron too. :)

What a beautiful quilt, Karen! I love 'simple' quilts and believe all quilts deserve a label (even though I hardly do it). The aquq definitely adds to the quilt. I have made my first quilt from Stephanie's book. So much fun and so well described. Wishing you a lovely week!

Gorgeous quilt. A lovely gesture and I'm sure it'll make a tough week just a little bit easier. I thought that back looked awfully cozy when I saw the pic before the description and book love. :o) Your nature photo always make me smile.

I was just going to say that this looks like a perfect guy quilt, and there you go... giving it to a fella already! That's so nice of you! Your daughter's suggestion to add aqua was spot on. And corduroy for a backing?! That's a new one for me. Must not have been too difficult to quilt. Did you add batting too?

Quilting is something else, and you can do it. Well done Karen.

An awesome finish! Love the aqua. Adds the perfect sparkle. Our daughters are both good at picking fabrics! I label most of my quilts. Using corduroy is new to me. I bet it is super cosy. Your friend will love his quilty hug.

This is a very special gift and I know your friend will love it, along with appreciating the kindness behind the gift. It is really beautiful, and that corduroy backing sounds wonderful. A work of art that deserves a signature :) and I too love that Aqua addition. Lovely heron photo :)

What a lovely quilt - the aqua was definitely a good choice - and a lovely gift for your friend. I agree about labeling - very important! I do usually embroider directly on to the back of the quilt though. xx
