I am very pleased to be able to declare
Zany Zebras by Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts
finally a finish!
And about time, eh?
(That's Canada Speak. I practice when I can!)
I eventually finish everything.
Sometimes it's a year,
sometimes it's six years!
You can't really tell in the first picture,
but I wrapped the upper right hand corner
binding of the same fabric as the bird
(and framed the label with that blue, as well).
Speaking of birds......
Seems that in my little world, I mark the passing of time
with the comings and goings of my fine feathered friends.
And oh my, time is passing at warp speed.
I had the pleasure of hosting a breeding pair of Cedar Waxwings
and was treated to several feeding times throughout the day.
Unable to catch a shot through the leaves of the willow
to show mom tending to baby's needs,
I did get a pretty nice pic of baby with a full tummy.
They are gone, now.
Sigh.
I'm linking up to What a Hoot! TGIFF
I have also linked to Angie's
Have a great weekend!
It's a long weekend here in Canada.
A civic holiday, I believe, tucked into the calendar
just to give everyone a day off!
XO

Congratulations! Zebras are so fun, and I love your take on them - wonderful fabric choices too :). Cute idea to use the blue binding in just that corner!
What a fun quilt! I love cedar waxwings, too... they are among my favorite birds. The detail of their coloring is just phenomenal! That must have been fun to watch a pair for a while!
how cute, I am thinking of doing the birds in scrappy
Hello, I love the zebra quilt, very cute! The Cedar Waxwings are one of my favorite birds, they are so pretty.
Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
Congrats on your finish! Your zebras are adorable. Lorna's patterns are always so cute. And I love the shot of the little bird in the tree. Practicing your Canadian...that made me chuckle :) With all of our Canadian friends, we do not want to sound like a hoser to them :P
How cute are those Zebras.. Great finish...
Sweet photo of the baby Waxwing...
This is so cute!!! Doesn't she make the best designs? :D Very nice addition to TGIFF.
Oh How I love Cedar Waxwings! Bohemian ones too - we used to call them the sunglasses birds when our kids were little. Wow, did you do a super job on the zebra quilt! It turned out great and I bet that blue binding rocks.
The quilt is adorable..with the little blue bird tucked down there...Outstanding work! Any excuse for a day off work is a good one! Waxwings are so much fun to watch...fast and very thorough when stripping a tree of its berries!
That is a seriously adorable quilt. Well done!
so very cute!
Oh my the zebra quilt is just lovely.... if you ever find you need a home for it!!! haha....
Hugz

Love your Zany Zebras! Congrats on getting it finished. Great photo of the Cedar Waxwing. Love those birds!
Lovely finish Karen. I love your attitude of eventually finishing everything, sometimes in a year, sometimes six years, gets me thinking.
Smiles

Congratulations on your finish! This is wonderful, and I was wondering where it went. =) I love the one blue bird there, too. The quilting in the waves is perfect for the quilt. Great job all the way around! How lovely to watch nesting pairs. Mine are too far from my deck and windows to watch, but I don't think I've seen any of this kind. There are some cardinals back there somewhere. I see them fly in and out.
Such a cute quilt. Love the bird story - it's calming to be close to nature. Thanks for linking to WIPs Be Gone.
Zany Zebras is happiness all over the place. Love the charm and sweet touch of a bluebird. And your wiggle quilting just adds the exclamation point on it all!
Speaking of birds...the mister has always enjoyed our backyard birds the many places we've lived. Always has provided feeders for them and purchased books to learn what type of birds in the various states and foreign countries we've lived. He's wondering where Walla Walla is hiding the birds. We've seen some sparrow, ducks of course, and mag pie. No one is interested in our generous feeder.
Congratulations on finishing your Zany Zebras. It looks great as does the pretty photo of the Cedar Waxing. I am back after my blog break and enjoying catching up. Thanks for visiting a while ago and have a great weekend :)
More 'Canada Speak' Karen, I can understand that.{:))
That quilt just makes me smile.
Lovely photo of the waxwing.
Cute Cute CUTE, and I see your blue in the corner!
Your Zany Zebras are very cute! Is this for a special little one? Your quilting is very nice.I like that you added blue to the binding. Clever and eye-catching. Happy to know that you're enjoying your birds too. Sounds like another idyllic summer.
Your zebras are so cute!!! The choice of fabric has really enhanced the pattern. You know something - I noticed immediately that I have slivers of the same fabric in Side Effects quilt. Like we are connected in more ways than one.
Lots of Love & Hugs,
Preeti.
Your zany zebras are adorable. Well done, Karen!
It's gorgeous Karen - congratulations on the finish!!And clever wee touch with the binding! That's a lovely photo of the Waxwing - how cool that you were treated to feeding time viewings.
It takes as long as it takes and the best part is...You are finished with this really cute Zebra Quilt. Lovely Waxwing birdie.
The zebras are so adorable. The bird is a nice addition to the quilt. It looks like it was fun to make.
Well that is just the cutest quilt ever! Love everything about it. Especially love the quilting. You did a fantastic job on this. Congrats on an awesome finish!
Hi Karen, I am back to thank you for your sweet comments on father-in-law's passing, and to say how sorry I am that you lost your Dad not so long ago. I was very shocked when I realized that I lost mine over 20 years ago, and still remember the feelings of loss so I truly give you my heartfelt sympathies.
I love your attitude, "I finish everything". That's my thought too. It feels good to have that kind of commitment to one's creative ideas. Though that won't stop me from reinventing it, if it's not working out ;)
Ah, your picture of the waxwing is so pretty. I love their coloring.
What a nice finish Karen! I am glad it isn't languishing in a pile of UFO's. It deserves to be loved. :-)
Congrats on the finish. The zebras are adorable. This pattern is on my to-do list, but haven't had a chance to get to it yet.
