Time Out

Last winter, I made and presented my first QOV.
There are no words to describe
how it made me feel when it was presented.
I vowed then and there that I would make one a year
for as long as I am able.

Completing this top was my January OMG.
I didn’t accomplish my goal,
but it was completed on February 1st,
which just happened to be the QOV Sew-in date.
(I am often a day late, but certainly not a dollar short!)
Thank you, Patty, for hosting OMG
and keeping me focused on my project.

Originally intended to be 60 x 78”
I eliminated one top to bottom 6” row
And the top and bottom borders,
For a finish measuring 54 x 68”.

~

I am very excited to be preparing to go to
QuiltCon in Austin, on Thursday and Friday.
I am already loading up my new tote bag
with goodies and necessities.

Sheila, of Sheila's Quilt World, gifted me this tote
just before I left for Texas in November.
Lovingly pieced from selvedge edges,
this is my first tote ever!
I have never made one for myself.
Thank you so much, Sheila!
It has already received so many compliments,
even just today at my LQS.

Since completing my QOV top, I have been
in a little bit of a quilt making slump,
so I decided to take a time out
and just work on small things.

Speaking of time out,
Crafty Daughter and I were walking the dog
at a local city park,
when we came across this oddly placed bench.

I couldn’t resist having a seat,
and I just laughed and laughed.
I have decided that this is a time out bench
for parents to use in a pinch.
Thoughts?

Thanks for popping in to visit.
Wish I had more to share!
See you at QuiltCon?

Your QOV is a beauty. It will certainly make the recipient very happy.
That bench is in a funny place and I think you may be right about it being a time-out bench. Or maybe it was a quilter behind it's placement, who thought it be a great place to display a quilt for photos :)

Beautiful QOV,it will be much loved. Have a great time at Quilts in. Love your tote bag. What a great bench seat, time out for parents, a place to sit when you don't want to face the world? Certainly is an interesting placement!! 😁😁

Great selvage tote, perfect for QuiltCon. There’s not a lot I can say about the bench, I’ve hit a wall on the subject 🙃 Have a wonderful time at QuiltCon, I look forward to hearing all about it.

I'm so glad you're getting that wonderful feeling from giving QOV quilts! Isn't it the best? Your new top is really super! I love the pops of gold and how the rail fence blocks kind of make a maze. Neat-o! :)

Maybe that bench is for cat owners who want to see what all the fuss is about when their cats sit and stare at the wall for hours?

Your QOV is beautiful! Someone will be thrilled with it. That is such a worthwhile cause.

Your selvage tote is fabulous. It will be so much fun to fill it at Quilt Con.

I love the time out idea for that bench. That would be a pretty boring view. Let is know if you find out why it is that way.

What a great goal. You just might have sparked a desire inside of me to do something like that. I'll have to check and see if there is a QOV group near me. I have been watching others talk about QOV's on their blogs for a long time but after the way you described it, this is the first time I've actually wanted to do it. Thanks for the inspiration, Karen!

That's a wonderful design for the top. Congratulations on finishing it. That bench is too funny! Maybe they were watching a bird in the tree? I just can't imagine! Have a wonderful time at QuiltCon. I planned to go, but the two people who were going with me, or meeting me there, had issues that couldn't be resolved, so I cancelled my room a month ago and have to wait for another year. I went to Savannah, and it was great. I wouldn't mind if they did it there again.

A day late and a dollar short is so much better for a narrative (movie, story. blogpost) than being on time etc. So boring. Love the pops of sunshine yellow in your QOV quilt. I am sure it will brighten the recipient's day (and life). Sometimes we need to close our eyes, shut down all thoughts and meditate. I am sure I can use that bench.
I will be at Quiltcon all day Sunday. Hope to hug you then :-)

Karen your QOV quilt is perfect. I love this project and one year made QOV quilt blocks for others to piece and quilt since I do not have those skills. Such deserving recipients! Your selvedge tote bag is lovely and how very sweet of Shiela to gift it to you. Enjoy QuiltCon. February is quickly coming to an end and March offers us Spring and fresh new sproutings...xo

Love your QOV. Great tote bag. I am curious about the fence or is it part of an old log cabin wall? Hey parents need a time out too.

I absolutely adore your quilt top. Congrats on getting it finished! The tote bag looks so fun and what a wonderful gift. I know it will get used a lot. Think you're right about the "timeout" bench. That is so funny.

Quilting is pure pleasure. I spend most of my time hunting for that inspiring pattern to get started. Your QOV is great. The tote bag from sheila is superb. Perfect match for a quilt show. I never had totes too. It is nice to carry in a lazy day. Waiting to hear a lot QuiltCon.
