Creating a Quilted Legacy Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the
Creating a Quilted Legacy Blog Hop,
where we will be “Following in Paula's Footsteps”
today through Friday.

Paula, PaulaBQuilts, filled her hours, and her heart,
by making quilts for others, donating to
charities such as Jack's Basket and Project Linus,
to name just a few.
In February, Paula passed away unexpectedly after a short illness.

Paula Budinger

Today, May 6, would have been her 79th birthday.
We are celebrating her life by continuing her spirit of giving
with a very special birthday remembrance.

Each blog hopper has agreed to make a quilt for charity
sharing their creations with us all May 6th through May 8th.

I have chosen to work with Figo Fabrics'
Midsommar line, in my quilt,
and will be donating it to A Doll Like Me,
where it will bring joy and comfort for years to come.

I discovered Figo Fabrics at QuiltCon 2020.
They had a lovely, eye catching booth,
and had donated a short stack of charms in my swag bag,
along with an accompanying free pattern
called Midsommar Migration.

I love both the fabric and the pattern because
it can be gifted to either a boy or a girl,
along with their very own,
very special, and lovingly made,
one-of-a-kind doll.
I downsized the pattern a tad to make it doll sized.
The original pattern makes a 26.75" x 30.50" wall hanging.
It was my first time constructing flying geese
four at a time!  What was I waiting for?

I hope you will take the time to see
what everyone else has made to honor Paula's memory.
Each and every comment you make
when you visit any or all today's blog hop participants listed below
will automatically be entered to win one of these prizes:

Lorna, Sew Fresh Quilts, $50 gift certificate for her pattern shop.

Yvonne Quilting Jetgirl, 2 PDF patterns of choice.

Bernie Needle and Foot, $25 certificate for her shop.

A fat quarter bundle from Figo Fabrics

A set of quilty gift cards from Initial Thought by DMF  Note cards set 1

A pattern of choice from Karen, Sugar Free Quilts

A $30 gift certificate from Doris, Cactus Queen Quilt Co

A PDF pattern of choice from Joanne, www.etsy.com/shop/CanuckQuilterDesigns

Thanks for stopping by!
A great big thank you to Janice and Kate
for putting this hop all together
and making it happen!

Your Midsommer Migration quilt is adorable, Karen! How great that you actually used a QC fabric pack and pattern to make a little quilt! It's sweet to pay tribute this way to a dedicated quiltmaker like Paula. Though I don't know her, it looks like she left a great legacy.

It’s good to see a post by you, again, Karen! Your quilt is adorable and the perfect loving tribute to Paula and her giving nature.

What a nice tribute. The doll quilt you made is wonderful. Our quilt guild makes doll quilts to give along with a doll and the woodworkers group makes wooden doll beds and they give the bed, doll and quilt to a girl (or a boy if they don't want a wooden toy) at Christmas. It's such a nice thing and a great way to use up fabric scraps for a good cause.

A legacy hop that is one to remember Paula with love, and pass on her generous spirit. A quilt for a child will be with them for so many years, maybe their lifetime and we do not know where that quilt will lead them, knowing how it came to be sewn, and donated, for Paula, I think she will know all this and be so happy.

Taking fabric that was given to you, and turning it into a doll quilt that you will then give away seems like a very "Paula-esque" thing to do. Thank you for sharing your quilt and being a part of this blog hop.
