Afternoon Delight

Sometimes,
life just gets in the way,
repressing inspiration,
inhibiting motivation,
until one comes upon a scene such as this.

"Play, Incorporating Animistic and Magical Thinking Is Important Because It:
Fosters the healthy, creative and emotional growth of a child;
Forms the best foundation for later intellectual growth.
Provides a way in which children get to know the world
and creates possibilities for different ways of responding to it.
Fosters empathy and wonder."
-Rachel Carson
The Sense of Wonder

Photo stolen borrowed from
a friend.
Thanks, Michael.

I love the picture! Makes me want to be a kid again. They are so free, full of life, and enjoy such
simple things. Thanks for sharing. Nola

I remember playing in the leaves when we were young. Of course mom was trying to rake them up - but we had fun :)
WAY better than video games.

And to think there are those who think animism and magic are evil. Too bad they didn't retain some of that sense of wonder that serves us so well in our adult years too.

Trust the children to bring us back to our senses. I'm glad you came upon the scene and were inspired again. Welcome back. Now I'm going to listen to the video you posted...

I love your poetry that inspires us all and the children playing makes us feel free......and reminds us to stop and seize the moment and to hear the whisper in the wind. Such joy it is to watch children play, thanks for sharing this beautiful post!
