Anything But UFO's

I had the best of intentions
to participate in Carrie's "Nothing But UFO's" this month,
but seemed I worked on everything BUT!!

I HAD to try the currently popular scrappy trip block,
so coordinated the colors and turned it into a
baby blanket to send to Operation Homefront-TX,

bringing my total so far up to 3.

During a visit with my Quilty Friend, I learned to crochet
baby hats, and together we made a few to send in with the quilts.

(Okay, so I only made one to her 5!)

Now it's the zero hour, and I'm working away
so I can report SOME progress on my goals for Carrie!!

I did finish my fingerless mitts,
and none too soon, as I needed them this morning!

And, I sewed my rows together for my scappy Flowers for Hannah.
I'm in a conundrum with this project.  I want to gift it to my lifelong friend
in Massachusetts.  Her birthday is in April.  I'm returning in April.
It's a lot easier to pack just the flimsy when traveling, so do I finish it there?
Or finish it now and try to find the room to pack it in my bag?
Should I strip quilt it to save time?
Oh my, what to do, what to do!!

There!!  1-1/2 goals accomplished!
Better than none!!

Visit A Passion for Applique to see how everyone else did
this month!!

Any handmade donation is worthy -- the number isn't important. Adorable hats and the quilt is so Spring-y.

those little baby caps are adorable. I love the quilt for your friend. If you are flying home I think I would wait and finish quilting it at home.
One day I want to crochet some fingerless mitts.
Congrats on your finishes.

I would finish it before hand, because when I visit my sister, I never do any of the projects I had planned on doing!

Love those fingerless mits---were they hard to make? And that Flowers for Hannah has been dogeared ever since the magazine appeared in my mailbox---I LOVE it. Your friend is so lucky. I say take it with you and finish it there. It's wonderful that you have three baby quilts and crocheted hats to donate. You are accomplishing lots. :P

BTW - Airlines do not usually count blankets as luggage if you need to carry it on with you!

Those tiny hats are so sweet and they will be so appreciated as will the little quilt. Especially love the "Flowers for Hannah" project. I almost think I would take it there and finish it as it would be a lot easier to fold and fit into your luggage. Of course, it all depends on the amount of time you will have once you get there. Maybe you could carry it on, if finished, like Miss Shay said. I really think you accomplished a lot. Even finishing one project a month is great. It's one more that isn't sitting around. Take care, Nola

All of your projects look terrific. I love your scrappy trip. And the fingerless gloves and little hats. But my favourite is the flowers for Hannah quilt!

Love your little scrappy trip along quilt...and wonderful that it is going to be donated to such a wonderful cause. You're a pretty fast learner...the hats are great...and those fingerless gloves are so pretty!

The hats are adorable. And I love the quilt that you're working on. I would finish it and take it with you. I carried a queen sized finished quilt on board with me on a plane recently and still had room for some other things in the bag. Just remember to fold it on the bias and it will come out nearly crease free! Congratulations on the finishes!

What a lot of fabulous, pretty quilting you have been doing. I love the baby quilt and the little crochet hats. I am about to learn to crochet. The quilt for your friend with its conundrum, just get on and finish it now, no problem! :)

It's great to see what you've been up to. Those fingerless gloves are great! Good for you to be making a quilt and cap to donate. People like you are such a blessing to others, and to me, as I can attest. I'm in the mood to work on anything but a UFO. Might we start a new group that does that!? Anything BUT a UFO. I love it!

Lady, you have nothing at all to feel guilty about. You are such a blessing with your talents and gifts, especially the one for sharing happiness. Everything you make is beautiful! Your friend will adore that quilt.

Your Trip Around the World Quilt is very sweet. I love that pattern. I made one of these years ago for my cousin's son (when he was born) and he still has it. He is now 20 years old. I like your hats and your gloves are great. I want to make the fingerless gloves and I've bought the yarn, just to find the time to do it now. I think I would go ahead and finish your quilt. Yes, packing a top is easier than a quilt but think how badly you would feel if you didn't get it finished while you were there. That way you can work on something else or just visit and no stress...
