Natalia To The Rescue

a tragic car accident took the lives
of three young adults
from or near my community.
Among the survivors
is a very special young lady.

She is broken and battered,
but extremely lucky to be alive.
She has a very long recovery period
ahead of her.
She'll be in the hospital for months.

As a quilter, my first reaction was,
"I've got to make her a quilt!."

I had the perfect flimsy already pieced.
But how do I finish it yesterday?
I put out feelers all through Nova Scotia
and Cape Breton.
No one up here seems to do
custom FMQ.

And then an angel,
disguised as
Natalia Bonner at Piece N Quilt,
came to my rescue.

Outdoor photo opportunities are not possible today,
and space is limited indoors.  Oh, well.  You get the picture!

I wrote to Natalia and told her my tale.

She said, "Send it to me!!  I'll squeeze you in!"

It took a week to travel to Utah.

And a week to make it's return trip to Nova Scotia.

It probably took me longer to attach the binding and label
than it did for Natalia to quilt it.

But now it's ready to go down to the hospital
in Halifax with her twin tonight!!

Thank you, Natalia,
from the bottom of my heart,
for casting your magic touch
upon this very special quilt!
I'm over-the-moon!!

Have a funderful day.

You are so very generous for thinking to do this giving, and for working out how to get it quilted with the help of the also-generous Natalie - the epitome of what quilters are known for - giving. I'm terribly proud of both of you, who humble the rest of us. On behalf of other quilters, I will say, Thank you!"

Karen, The quilt turned out absolutely beautiful and Natalia did an awesome job quilting it. This is going to be a treasure and this young lady is so blessed to have it. I'm sure it will bring her a lot of comfort. Just looking at all those adorable "kitties" bring a smile to my face, so I can just imagine how it is going to make her feel. You are so kind and thoughtful to do this. I know blessings are going to come your way for your generosity. I tried to get the pdf file, but it came up that I need permission. Know anything about this. Nola

Natalia shines as an example to humankind about how to behave in an honorable fashion in all she does. For her to step up and do this gorgeous quilting reaffirms my earlier judgment of her outstanding character.

Thank you, KaHolly, for creating this loving gift for the young woman. A lifetime hug for her is a gift that will bring comfort beyond measure. I bow to you.

The young woman is help up to the Universal Healing Power with the entire community.

What a loving and generous quilter (and such talent, too!) to do this on no notice... and what a dear precious friend you are. She is going to love this and, of course, quilts work miracles when it comes to healing!

I love your quilt. It is beautiful. It brings back memories for me of when I was twelve and in a bad car wreck. I was in the hospital for a month and then the recovery was a long time at home. My cat would curl up on my feet and stay there while I recovered in bed. He would only get up when I got up to go to the bathroom and he would be right back curled up on my feet. This went on for months. What a treasure of a quilt. Where can I get the pattern for this quilt. Would love to make it. What sweet memories it brings me.

Karen said...

What a beautiful quilt. I love the label. Do you mind if I used the words in the circle on my quilts?

I love this quilt the blocks for the cats are so clever. I have a young friend in hospital and it's going to be a long haul. I would love to make her a quilt but it would need to be involve rabbits. Any suggestions how a similar rabbit block could be made.
