Everything's Bigger in Texas

And that includes lemons.

Yes, that tape measure says 16"!
These are Ponderosa Lemons.
First time I saw them, I was shocked.

When a neighbor dropped these off,
I could think of a half dozen delicious recipes to try.
Sweets, however, are being avoided in this household.

Instead, we made bath scrub with salt and with sugar,
using some recipes we found on Pinterest.
(Lemons are very cleansing and are widely used to alleviate acne.)

All of the ingredients were already in the cupboard!!
And, it only took a few minutes.

I love the fresh lemony scent in my morning shower,
enjoy the gentle exfoliation, and appreciate the moisturizing oils
on my overdry, winter skin.

Here are the two recipes we've tried so far:

Lemon Scrub w/sea salt,
the recipe called for coarse salt, but we only had the more refined.
Worked great and is less abrasive.

Lemon Scrub w/sugar.
We added just a little food coloring to tint the scrub yellow
and some of the zest to add interest to the texture,
as well as a little more natural lemon scent.

We intend to try more recipes, so we can choose our favorite.
There was plenty of juice and zest left over.
PLENTY!

Have a wonderful day!

I never knew they got that big there. What part of the state do you live in where you can grow lemons? Are you in the valley?

Wowzer, those are huge. Thanks for the links. I love natural ingredients products for bath and body. :o) Lemons are such a wonderful scent and they make great cleaning products too. Ponderosa makes me think of Bonanza with Pa, Hoss, Little Joe, the other brother I can't think of his name and their housekeeper/cook Hop Sing!

My mother has several lemon trees, but not this variety. We were talking about these big lemons just yesterday! The bath scrub is a great idea for using them!

I love all things lemon including the beautive colour. I've got a huge collection of recipes, lemon fabrics and lemon themed collectibles. But I have to admit I don't think I've seen such a large lemon in person.

What an interesting lemon! I had no idea they grew this size. Love what you've done with them. I'll add that fresh lemon juice and baking soda make a good teeth-whitener. That's a Pinterest recipe I found.
