I mailed my thank you note this week, did you?
I'm curious to know
just how much attention do you pay
to information that is placed
on someone's side bar?
Some blogs have so much.
And what about blogs with so many ads
it takes forever to load?
Then when you do,
its difficult to figure out how to move past them?
That's really all I have today.
The sun is shining,
although it's ch-ch-chilly outside.
Think I'll go for a walk!
Enjoy your day!
XO,
Karen

No walk for me today as I'm hibernating inside while outside it pours freezing rain...yuk. recently cleaned up my sidebar its still very cluttered but leaner. I do read some of the info on the sidebars, but I breeze past the ads. I had a couple on my blog, Amazon Books, and the Amazon per click but got rid of both.
I just pay attention to their blog lists, LOL!! Love to read all the lovely blog posts and see the quilts. I don't have any advertising...but if it takes too long to load, I just moved on, being limited in time. Hope you are having a wonderful day!
Hello, I usually look at the sidebar images. I removed a lot of my sidebar images that seem to slow down my blog loading I did leave a few photos and birding links. I do not click on any advertisements. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
I like to see the blog lists as it sometimes leads me to blogs that I like to read. I was just asked yesterday why I had removed a few from my own blog roll - I wasn't reading those anymore so I removed but evidently some where reading them from my blog and hadn't book marked or whatever you all do to save them - I guess some do not save. I don't mind a little advertising on blogs as I have several myself but I do not care for tons of it. Some have over 20 ads on their sidebars and pop up video ads as well which I detest. It occasional gets to the point where they are off my reading list because of it.
When I was new to blogging I followed links to get to know new blogs. Now not so much. There are sometimes links that I do go to though.
I enjoy the blog lists on people's sidebars, it's a fun way to discover new blogs. Mostly ignore the advertising. I've tried to declutter my sidebar a little by removing many of the links to sewalongs etc. I enjoyed reading your last few posts...yesterday we received a handwritten card from our daughter and future son-in-law, thanking us for help at their recent (small) engagement party and having them stay over summer holidays - it was a lovely surprise :-)
Like everyone else that has responded, I enjoy checking out different blogs that are listed and finding new ones I enjoy. Don't care for all the advertising! And because I don't spend as much time writing or reading now, I much prefer things be simple. I hope you enjoyed your walk. I've been debating about heading out since it is warming up a little. Have a good one! Nola
I did send a thank you card. And even wrote it in French (I'm learning). I don't read much in the side bars because there is generally too much and it's distracting.
I really don't like when ads pop up on blogs that prevent me from even commenting as I can get it to turn off . I don't always read all the things on a sidebar.
Hi Karen i hope you enjoy your walk,i dont seem to go and visit blogs that i dont follow,i have regular ones that i follow,i spend to much time on the computer as is,lol xx
I pay almost no attention to anyone's side bar. I prefer uncluttered.
Hi Karen. I don't look at ads on side bars and very rarely anything else either - I seem to spend more than enough time reading posts as it is without looking for more to read! xx
There's certain blogs that I never see because of the loading issues with it. Especially when you get so far in the post and the page randomly reloads! I haven't sent out any Thank you notes but I did send out some Thank you Fat Quarters :)
Yep..I sent out a thank you note this week. I don't mind the blog rolls on the sidebars, but I pass over the ads. Time is too short to wait for all the loading.
I did mail thank you cards. I also mailed a couple of cards just to say "thinking of you". I also made some very simple cards to go along with my bright colorful envelopes I make from calendar and magazine pages. As for blog sidebars and ads...I am a simple girl and do not Iike a lot of distractions. As you can see my blog is one of the original Blogspot templates. I do love creative and beautiful blog templates on other blogs...I just do not know how to do such things for myself. Life is busy and I feel reading blogs is a gift I earn by doing my "chores". Sounds silly but it works for me. Wonderful Weekend Dear...
Good questions! No thank you note sent, but I remembered a birthday! :-) And you remind me that I need to take down, from my blog, my list of recently-read books. No one really cares, and I don't keep it current anyway. As for advertising... I don't find it takes long to load. But it can be annoying anyway.
I sent out a birthday card, doesn't that count? I do love sending cards with a little note, although I know I let it slide way too often.
I've had to unfollow some blogs that have too much advertising. I read from my iPad usually, and those posts take forever to load, then once they do everything jumps up and down - it's like having to play catch for the information I'm trying to read! Blog reading is something I do for relaxation and inspiration, so when it becomes stressful I tune out.
Like most others, I do like the blog rolls. I have found many favorite blogs by checking these out from time to time :*) And I display buttons only for blog parties and linkies that I take part in or think others might enjoy, cleaning them out every so often.
I love to see what's on the side bar, but not too keen on ads.
I failed...no notes sent. Dang it! I really planned to do it. Next week for sure. Hopefully. :O) I glance at sidebars, but mostly just check out the posts.
You'll probably have as many different answers as people who comment. =) I do pay attention to some things. I look at Craftsy, links to projects or things like your Save the Frogs. I don't look at blog rolls, though I'll click over if something on your side bar happens to catch my eye, since you use the picture ones. I look at the About, if it's there, and a Craftsy or Etsy site.
As for blogs with tons of ads that slow down the site loading - sometimes I just click off, because it's too annoying. There's really only one of them I continue to try to read. I also click off the ones which have so many photos that they load impossibly slowly and then keep reloading. A friend shortened the number of days showing on her blog, and that helped tremendously. I love her photos, but it was driving me crazy trying to wait for the page to load!
Most important to me is how the comment box is. I click away if it requires discus or google+. I am really disappointed to get to the bottom of a good blogger post and find an embedded box, which doesn't allow me to comment. So I stick with blogs where I CAN comment. Like yours. =)
And you didn't ask, but I don't care if people "answer" my comment. I'd rather they come look at my blog instead and leave a comment there. =)
Sidebars - well, I look at them, but not the ones with ads, because I have adblock. I don't even see ads. I normally only know if someone has them by how long it takes adblock to block them all. I try to keep my blog nice and clean of all that....but if I think it's important, it will go on my sidebar.
Enjoyed your mindfulness post [trying to catch up after being sick!]. I have absolutely zero clarity about this coming year, goals or things I'd like to do, I'm just in a muddle. But I'm pretty comfortable here, lol.
My blog reading habits have changed. I have my several favourites/friends blogs that I try to keep up with. I tend to look at blog lists but mostly do a lot of skimming. There is just too much to distract me.
haha.. you are determined to make me feel guilty about no thank you letters!!! not working yet!!!!! haha.... I very seldom look on the sidebars to be honest and try to keep mine to a minimum and just to the things I am presently doing. At one time there were some blogs with music too and they took so long to open I had to stop reading them

Hi Karen, I did not write a thank you note the past week but I sure got one :-). Thank you so much . It was a great feeling to get it .
About the blogs . I love blog hopping . I always look at the blog list to look for new blogs that interest me. But II dont are for the advertising
That's a good idea, writing thank you notes. It's a tradition that needs to be revived. In fact letter writing is another tradition that should be resuscitated. I do enjoy getting real mail, and I'm pretty sure other people do as well. As for ads, they don't bother me, and I do pay attention to sidebars, though I don't usually click on many links anymore. I have little enough time to read and comment on the blogs of people who visit mine. It's a shame, because blogging has enriched my life in so many ways over the past eight years.
I do send thank you notes but not as often as I should. And I do pay attention to side bars but probably because I'm constantly trying to grow my blog and I like to see what others are doing. Enjoy your walk. It's freezing cold up here so no walking for me. :(
I am a note writer... it's how I was raised and how I raised my children too; they are punctual and gracious in their not writing. I have done my job, they are teaching their children to write thank you notes too. Have a onderful day... I can't get started on the subject of ads, it wouldn't be pretty and I would be censored. ;)
I like reading about the people who write blogs that I enjoy and seeing photos of where they live. I'm not so much into the blog hops and stuff like that so I tend to ignore that. And you're right, some blogs take so long to load I only read them once in a while.
I hope that your week is going well!
I did go out and stood and listened to the early spring bird songs from the black-capped chickadees and the little goldfinch. I felt soothed in light of recent events..... (I pay so there are no ads on my blog and I do read side-bars...).... Michelle
