Happy Leap Year Day!
An extra day!
It should be a holiday so everyone can take advantage
and do whatever they want!
An extra day!
It should be a holiday so everyone can take advantage
and do whatever they want!
But that means it's the last day in February,
and I haven't posted all month!
Believe me, it's not for the lack of sewing!
Seriously? I've just never taken a fancy to my new laptop
and cringe at the thought of booting it up and trying to work on it.
Last spring, I bought a Dell, and it's as slow as molasses.
No computer time meant more sewing time!
I accomplished many small projects while waiting
for some inspiration,
until I saw THIS block from Hyacinth Quilt Designs.

I only intended to try one block, but I couldn't stop making them!
(You can see from the above picture of the Crayon Wallets
that stopping at just one is often a problem for me!).
Thank you to my friend, Sew Sweet Susie, for sharing her left-over
Riley Blake Extravaganza jelly roll with me!
So, this is, officially, my first finish
for 2016.
I have a few other projects in the works,
but that's all for today.
Its time to sew!

Have a wonderful day,
no matter what you decide to do!

Hi Karen Nice to see you've been keeping busy.
My laptop is incredibly slow, but then it is running Vista (I know, I know). And when I surf, I have be n using my mini tablet which is horrid to type on. I have be n doing a lot of quilting lately: practice, don't you know. I think I might have turned that corner where everything is clicking. Finally!
Loving your quilt! Great fabrics and so fresh! Sorry for your laptop woes, but glad the upside is sewing time!
Love the crayon holders and that quilt is awesome , great job and Congratulations on the finish .
Looks like you had fun. Time well spent (-:
Sorry about your computer! It looks like you're having a great time sewing :-)
as always your projects are lovely and useful too...Now that adult coloring books are the craze Im sure some grown up folks would enjoy a set of crayons.
I am in love your coloured bag, and your beautiful butterfly Karen.
I love your crayon wallets - what a great idea! Pretty crosses quilt. xx
Nice photos! I've been away a long time - it's a long story. Hope you're still following!
Your Plus quilt looks beautiful with all those lovely prints framed. Glad to hear you are getting lots of stitching time in!
Your plus quilt turned out beautiful. I love the crayon wallets. I will have to check out the instructions to see if I can make some. Thanks for sharing a picture of the the butterfly.
Oh no, not loving your computer is awful! I hope things start working better...I'm really glad to see you posting! Your new quilt is gorgeous. You're the opposite of me, lol, I can't stand to make more than one of a thing! Maybe why I love applique.
Love those crayon wallets! I think you are right - Feb 29th's should be holidays, a little gift of time to give ourselves every 4 years.
How pretty Karen!!! So nice to have that first finish of the year under your belt :)
And I've made a few of those crayon wallets too - aren't they fun?
I love both projects, but I'm a sucker for Crayolas.....I still have a collection. That addiction started when I was about 8. My Grandma sent me a carton when we were stationed in Newfoundland. I can still remember the smell of Crayolas when I opened the box.....grin. Funny memories.
It's a beautiful quilt, Karen! Isn't it amazing how much sewing you can get done when you stay away from the computer? I would be so caught up if it weren't for this technology! Julie@TheCraftyQuilter.com
Love your crayon wallets! I've been spending a lot more time sewing lately than blog posting, too. Now I think I may need to make a crayon wallet. I have a 6 year old great niece.
Haha,.... it is very hard to stop at one sometimes... those crayon wallets are great and I love the quilt
Hugz
Sewing is better and more fun than blog posting. Enjoy the sewing time.
The crayon wallet is so cute. I think most of us could do with less computer time. =)
I need to make one of those crayon wallets for my grandson.
Love your quilt.
