One Monthly Goal/June

Hello, everybody!

No, I did not fall off the face of the earth.
I just lost my blogging mojo.
And you know how it goes.....the longer you put something off,
the more difficult it is to do.  Well, it's been 6 months
and I thought Patty's OMG
would be a good way to ease myself back in.

My goal is to use up all my scraps of B&W, W&B fabrics.
Here is what I have so far.

I started on June 1 and have made two a day.
By the end of the month, my desire is to have a flimsy
of substantial size,
and no more black and white scraps.
I will just sew until I run out.

The Maritime Modern Quilt Guild, out of Halifax, Nova Scotia,
is having an executive challenge.
The rules are to use black and white, with a pop of color.
One color.
Well, my intentions were noble,
but I just couldn't seem to restrict myself to one color.

The pattern is called B&W by Kim Schaefer
and is available for free from Andover Fabrics.
I only changed fabric placements
because I'm not working with yardage.

So, there you have it.
Stop in to

to see who else has linked up with one monthly goal.

well I knew you hadn't fallen off the face of the earth but I thought maybe you had stopped blogging! I think I probably need a break from it :)

Hello and welcome back Karen. Like you I’m trying to get back to blogging too. I love the simplicity of your blocks, I think adding more than one colour adds to the impact, it’s looking great.

It's so good that you're back to blogging again! So few quilters are blogging these days, unless it's to promote their new pattern or fabric line, or some such. I miss the "good 'ole days" of quilters blogging just to share what they're up to! I think you've set an admirable challenge for yourself, and completely agree that a black and white ONLY challenge would be difficult to keep. This is gonna be a wonderful flimsy by the end of the month, and I'm sure you'll meet Patty's challenge. Gosh, I was trying to do Amy's Creative Side "one thing this week" and couldn't manage it! Me and goal-setting have never been good friends. But I'm glad you and I are! :-)

Welcome back, Karen! So good to see you again. I’m glad you couldn’t restrict yourself to one color, because your blocks look really perky with the different colors. I hope you will keep trying to blog a bit because it’s always a treat to see what you are up to.

Great blocks, Karen! Your piecing is so precise. Welcome back to blogging. Can you lend me a hand back onto the bandwagon, because I fell off a while ago, too. Lots of stitching, zero writing, and like you said it gets harder and harder to catch up :)

Welcome back, you've been missed! These B&W blocks are great; who can restrict themselves to just ONE color pop?

Good to see a post from you. I love what you are doing with the B&W fabrics. Can you just consider it “black and white with a pop of color in EACH block”?

Welcome back, it’s nice to see that you didn’t disappear. Love the blocks you’ve made so far. Keep on making and soon you will have a flimsy.

Sew good to see you pop up again Karen.....
Really great B/W challenge blocks and like you I would not be able to only put in one colour..
Hope to see you post again soon.

As long as you don't lose your sewing mojo...and looks like you haven't. That quilt is going to be awesome. I didn't get around to doing anything for the exec challenge. I have a ton of B&W scraps too. Another time.

Glad to see your post, Karen! "Using up" those BW scraps? You do realize that you'll generate a bunch more. (I speak from experience.) I do like the pop of color in the center of each block.

Hello Karen and Welcome back to blogging. I am one who gave up blogging when Blogger quit showing me comments and I was unable (Technology challenged!) to fix it. I miss posting however I do still follow and read blogs. Your black and white blocks are very striking and I love B&W. Enjoy your Summer and the Sunshine. I am loving living here in Southern Utah.

How fun to see you blogging again. I love what you are doing to use up your black and white fabrics. Also, like that you are adding more than one color. It really makes the blocks "pop". Can't wait to see the finished project.
Isn't it fun to find something that motivates us and excites us to get sewing once again.

Great to see you back on air Karen ♥ I love your blocks and totally approve of you twisting the rules a bit and adding more than one extra colour. Have fun with your goal :-)

Trust you to come back to blogging with a bang! I love your blocks, and it will be an outstanding quilt. I like the idea of different colors much better than one, for this pattern. Thanks for linking where it is. It might be helpful with other colors, too. Good to see you back.

Hi, Karen: Nice to read your post, and see your lovely quilt-in-the-making. I too fell off the blogging wagon, and am finding it really hard to get back on track. I look forward to watching your blocks grow into a big quilt!
