UFO Busting

I am linking up with
to celebrate having finally finished a long-in-the-making flimsie
that you are probably sick of seeing!
I was sick of seeing it, too, languishing in a bin since 2013.

(You can just click on my pictures
to enlarge them!)

(58" x 72")
You'll only have to look at it one more time,
after it's quilted and bound.
That probably won't be until next summer.

I did notice that I'd left off the bottom sashing at picture time,
but that has since been rectified.

~

I just have to show you this perfect specimen
of a Fly Agaric, (Amanita muscaria).
It was about the size of a man's fist.

Here it is, two days later,
almost completely flattened out.
It's as big around as the cap minus the visor!
They are quite spectacular.

Thanks for stopping by today!
(I'm sad to see September end.)

Karen

Love the stars, a great addition!!
That mushroom is edible or poisonous??

Holy WOW on that mushroom! I had no idea they started off in a ball and then flattened out. Love your quilt; I've wanted to make one FOREVER...made one without the little stars last year in the RSC. It went to live with Dayna!

Beautiful scrappy greens and special with the stars! Very cool mushroom too! I know it seems like it's getting cold early too!

Congrats on your finish! Looks great! One more off the list. I have some of the same mushroom in my yard. Nice to know their name.

I'm glad you shared that quilt top again, as I sure don't recall seeing it. Perhaps I wasn't following you in 2013? It's a neat design, with that star shape within each block. Does the block or quilt have a name? You sure get to see interesting nature-made creations in your part of the world. I've never seen nor heard of that toadstool. Or is it a mushroom? Certainly it's fungi. Thanks for sharing before and after pictures of it. Hope you are enjoying your remaining time "up there." Winter will be upon you before you know it. Be well!

Nope, not sick of it! It's a great top and it even matches the background of your blog. Great to see it as a finished flimsy :)

It's a real beauty and I love that pattern...sis finished her quilt and gave it to mom for her 95th. She keeps promising me photos but so far none! She worked hard on it...that Mushroom is HUGE...wow.

Hello Karen Dear. So happy to see your post. Congratulations on finishing your flimsie...it is lovely. WOW! That mushroom is stunning. I tried to watercolor a mushroom similar to this one, however I had no reference photo so mine turned out a tad anemic. But I love it! October is here in just a few hours and I already feel the rush of the entire Autumn into Holiday season. We are over 100+ days of zero rain and that is so not normal for Southern Utah. Northern Utah has been getting rain and snow. Awesome October to you my friend...<3

That's a beautiful quilt, can't get tired of it, especially in green! It's a block that's still on my list to make. I like the way you did the background, too. I've never seen one of those that wasn't flattened out. Thanks for that photo!

Love the stars in your quilt. I don't think I remember this but it has turned out so lovely as does everything you set your hand to. Out of curiosity is the mushroom edible. I don't know much about them, but it is pretty neat how it flattens out. Thanks for sharing.Nola

I will never be sick of seeing any of your quilts!! Ooh, and the mushroom. You know I did not see colorful ones like this until just this past week. I guess we were hiking at just the right time and place for the first time ever. I thought the round and flat mushrooms were two different types. Thanks for setting me straight. I saw one that had the tiniest scallop around it. I wonder if that was the inspiration long ago for scallops in lace and garments. Such awesome specimens of nature.

Not tired of your flimsy at all - I love that design and really must remember it to chomp through a few of my scraps! Good on you getting it to the quilting stage :-)
